Company Information
Severn Home Survey is the trading name of James Cargill BSc Dip HI. I am an independent residential property surveyor.
I am a member of the Residential Property Surveyors Association RPSA and certified and regulated by the Surveyors and Valuers Accreditation SAVA.
All surveys are conducted in accordance with the RPSA Survey and Reporting Standards, which entail the most thorough inspection possible. I use a Home Condition Survey format for all types of property, but the report will be more detailed as appropriate for older properties. For older houses my report is comparable to most level 3 or Building Survey reports.
My prices are based on both the value and age of the property, and may therefore differ from the figure quoted for your enquiry. I will provide a revised quote by email after assessing the likely age of the property based on the post code given, and will give a firm quote once the address and actual sale price is known.Contact Details

Promptness of response : Jim responded to my enquiry straight away - and it was immediately clear I was talking to him, not dealing with canned responses. Jim is a sole trader, which is of benefit here, as you know you're getting the best.
Quality of service : Jim's service has been second to none. Pre, during and post the survey he has been easy to contact and ask questions - he clearly genuinely wanted to understand the property. Jim's observations, investigations and enquiries were significantly above and beyond that which you might expect for a homebuyers survey. He highlighted multiple aspects we would not have considered but was also clear as to how much of an issue these items may be.
Value for money : Jim cost ballpark the same as previous surveys we have had done, but delivered 100x the insight. No question of value for money.
Professionalism : Jim is absolutely professional - but also crucially is really easy to understand.

Value for money : As the property requiring a survey was an apartment, rather than a house, James offered a lower price than that automatically quoted through the Local Surveyors Direct system.

Promptness of response : Mr Cargill telephone the same day I made my inquiry to discuss my needs and how he could help. He explained the type of survey he conducts, and provided examples for my inspection, which were most helpful.
