On Construction Energy Performance Certificate (EPC)

Who needs to get an "On Construction Energy Performance Certificate"?

All homes, whether new or converted, are required on completion to have an On Construction Energy Performance Certificate.  An On Construction EPC records how energy efficient the property is as a building.  This is done by means of a rating system between  A and G, A being the highest and G being the lowest.  On Construction EPCs are produced off plan using full SAP (standard assessment procedure).  The resulting certificate must be shown to Building Control.

Fill in the form above to instantly receive a set of contact details from Energy Assessors who specialise in the provision of On Construction Energy Performance Certificates.  You will be able to make contact directly with them to discuss your requirement in detail.  It is wise, before appointing a supplier and placing an order, to ensure for yourself that your chosen supplier has the right level of experience, qualifications, accreditation and insurance to provide the service that you require.

If you have a domestic property you may need a domestic Energy Performance Certificate (EPC).

If you have a commercial property that you are going to sell or rent you may need a Commercial EPC.

If you are planning a new build you will require a Predicted Energy Assessment (PEA) and SAP Calculations

If you have a public building and you require a Display Energy Certificate (DEC)

If you have an air conditioning system you may require an Air Conditioning Inspection.

The above notes are for guidance only.  You may wish to consult a solicitor to be sure of your legal obligations.  Do check, before appointing an Energy Assessor, that they have the right level of experience, qualifications and insurance.  They should also belong to one of the recognised accreditation schemes.  There are a number of schemes recognised by the government.  In Jan 2010 these were as follows:

Energy Performance Certificates for existing dwellings:

NES, BRE, Elmhurst, Northgate, Stroma, RICS, ECMK Ltd, Quidos, Heating and Ventilation Certificated Associates.

Energy Performance Certificates for commercial buildings:

NES, BRE, CIBSE, Elmhurst, Northgate, Stroma, RICS, ECMK, Quidos, BESCA, NAPIT, Heating and Ventilation Certificated Associates.

New build:

NES, BRE, CIBSE, Elmhurst, Northgate, Stroma, RICS, Knauf, CIAT, ECMK Ltd, Quidos, NAPIT, Heating and Ventilation Certificated Associates.

Customer Feedback

We ask all of the people who request an estimate to give us any feedback they would like to leave - on both the way the website worked, and also how they found any Suppliers they used. These are some of their comments:

The website was good. Following further discussion, I used Alcyon. Alcyon were very good. Quick and tailoring their service to our needs for an auction property purchase The quotes are only really a guide, but it was a good way to see who locally could do the work and then getting them to contact me directly rather than follow up several companies on my own. Certainly made the process quicker and easier
D Chenery, Teddington, Middlesex
The website worked well. I followed up with Andrew Tew. The work has now been carried out – he was excellent. I did not select Mr Tew by price, I chose him because he phoned me quite soon after using the website, and this meant I could discuss in real time the various scenarios and timings. He was also willing to do the work to a tight schedule.

We did use a surveyor from list, Mathew Butterworth. We chose to use him not just because he contacted us promptly, but he carried out the energy check on the property we are selling. We are very satisfied with his service, and his survey report. We would recommend him and would use his service in the future.
Diane W, Southport, Merrseyside
The website was fine. We used Ian Gow of Carfeld Building Services. We received a very detailed report and all our questions were answered We were very satisfied with the service provided and are very likely to use the service again
Derek, Gledhow, Yorkshire
I ended up using Bowcliff Llp. The work has been carried out and I was very impressed with the service I received.
