GCA has been providing engineering solutions for over 40 years and has a team of Chartered Structural Engineers to undertake appraisals of domestic and commercial properties.
Established as an independent firm in Derby in 1975, GCA has offices in, Derby, Leicester and Warwick and delivers civil, structural, highway & transportation engineering services to clients throughout the UK.
A robust project management system together with the very latest 3D modelling design technology underline the depth of our resources and expertise. These enable us to deliver comprehensive, cost effective and professional solutions; in short, a total quality service.
Our growth over the last 45 years has been driven by our high standards of client service and we retain a commitment to continuous improvement in our service delivery. Quality Assurance to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and Gold membership of ConstructionLine and Acclaim Accreditation. In addition to this, we also have the client comfort of providing £5M Professional Indemnity Insurance for all our services, unlike many of our competitors.
Our Managing Director is a accredited with CARE – The Conservation Accreditation Register of Engineers – this allows full confidence in our design teams ability to provide sensitive and best practice on conservation and historic work including Grade Listed structures.Contact Details

Structural Inspection, Rugby, Neil - April 2017Value for money : The final report whilst it gave me the right conclusion, I have to say that I considered this to be a little lightweight in explaining the background of what was done during the survey. Soil samples were taken and measurements checked with a plumb line and there was no mention in the report of the soil samples and only a brief mention of measurements. A couple more pages on this would have given the report more substance. Nonetheless, as mentioned previously, it gave me what I required. The surveyor, Roy was very professional on the day.

Building Surveys, Oadby, Manjit, April 2016Promptness of response : John Illingworth arranged a visit quickly and gave practical advice during our initial telephone discussions. John completed the structural survey with great efficiency and was very unobtrusive in his movements about the property. John fed back his initial findings verbally to us and a written report was completed within a week. We had to pay the fee before receiving an email copy of the Structural Appraisal and then received two bound paper copies the following day. Good service. Hopefully we will not need another Structural Engineers report but is we did, we would certainly consider John Illingworth of GCA
Value for money : This was one of the higher quotes but it was worth the extra cost
Professionalism : John was vey aware of our concern and upset that a Buildings Survey had indicated that there were major problems with the roof and chimneys. He was calm and answered all our questions with patience and helped to ease our stress!

Value for money : When you say value for money, the answer can only be yes, time limit 7-10 days was e-mailed when report was made, two hard copy's were sent at no extra cost, photo's added in the report, with comments, couldn't ask for more information it was all there in e-mail form an hard copy, in a very nice booklet, which I found was a nice touch,that can be kept an shown, to whom ever.
Professionalism : From start, to finish, very professional, an very polite, when compiling the report at the house, no complaints how the report was compiled, as it was done in a professional manner, with a touch of class with the report booklet.
